Building blocks aren't just for toddlers

They are always so excited when they first sit with me. All of the ideas, opportunities and adventures we will go on together. The joy it will bring and the sweet sweet happiness it will inflict on


everyone around them... and no, I am not talking about a group of toddlers that I'm chilling with in my spare time.


When I first sit with a client, there are usually a lot (like a lot a lot) of wonderful ideas of where they would like their business to go. There will be categories, sub categories, branches of said sub categories all being dreamt up right before my eyes. It's all so wonderfully inspiring, until I (metaphorically) hit them over the head with my reality stick.


If you don't have your building blocks rock solid, then your dream could fizzle out before it even begins.


What are building blocks? These are the core services and / or products of your business. They need to be running as smoothly as possible and delivering on what you promise them to be delivering on, before you can even think about


growth, change or development. If you cannot truly tell yourself that your customer service, sales, delivery, the product/service itself and follow up are at a standard of 110% then what the hell are you doing looking at how to get to the next level?


Your bread and butter needs to be water tight before you look at any sort of growth. Customers are savvy and have a world of information at their fingertips, so if there are any points of weakness, they will sniff that out so quickly your head will be spinning as they move onto the next.


So, before you look at growth and the next chapter in your businesses journey, take a minute, read the current chapter, and make sure it is a great read (with no gaps in the plot!).
